Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord. Ephesians 6:4 (NIV)
There are many ways that our parenting can exasperate our children.
One of the things I have heard teenagers say over and over again through the years is that it is so frustrating having a parent who tells them to live one way and then turns around and does the opposite.
This Tip doesn’t need to be very long. We parents need to be examples to our children of what it looks like to honor God with our lives.
They are watching and this sounds pretty obvious but I will say it anyway: We need to walk our talk. We need to practice what we preach. We need to be living examples to our children of parents who are following Jesus as our children follow our example.
Not the pastor. Not the youth pastor. Not the children’s pastor. For good or for bad, we parents are the ministers with the loudest voice in our young children’s lives.
