At the marriage getaways we speak at for Family Life we are fond of saying: You have an enemy in your marriage and your spouse is not it.
Do you realize that? Your spouse is not your enemy.
Since the first marriage, according to the book of Genesis, our enemy Satan has been trying to create not only division between God and His children but between that first husband and wife.
Satan is on the same mission today: Create isolation in marriages.
On that note, Satan knows that the couple who prays together stays together.
That may explain why it has not always been easy for Carol and me. There are lots of excuses not to pray together.
Too busy. Too tired. Too whatever.
A lot of the time I just don’t feel like it.
However, Carol and I pray together. Daily.
We miss from time to time but we work hard on it even though it continues to be difficult to do.
But let me say this, it always turns out to be a rewarding experience. My wife and I touching hearts with the God of the universe who loves us so much.
God wants to hear from us. Grab the hand of your spouse and get to it.
Simple but very powerful. Pray together. Stay together.
For those of you who know your spouse would pray with you and your just not doing it. Dive in. Don’t wait for them to act, jump in and be grateful you are married to someone who will pray with you.
I’m getting passionate now and I’m preaching to myself as well. Pray together. Stop making excuses. God is all ears and wants us to reach out to Him.
Pray with your spouse. God is crazy about you two!
If you are married to someone who will not pray with you, this Tip does not apply to you because this is out of your hands. Continue to pray for your spouse and their relationship with God and don’t try to force them. Continue to love them and pray for them. Know that the two of you are deeply loved by God.
