Imagine being in a close relationship with someone where you never listened to what they had to say.
Your conversations were always one-sided and as much as you would tell that someone you loved them, you never listened to what they had to say back to you.
Being in a relationship with God without reading
the Bible (His words to us) is very much like that.
The Bible is God’s love letter to us and I am convinced that He was thinking about you and me when He wrote it.
And even though the Bible was written a long time ago, I am also convinced that it is alive and active now because it is God’s very words to us today.
For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.(NIV)
I can’t tell you how many times I have read something in the Bible and I know without a shadow of a doubt, that is exactly what God wanted me to hear from His lips today. He is speaking that to me today through His words in the Bible.
God wants to talk to you. And though He has many ways He can do that, I am convinced that the Bible is one of His greatest lines of communication to us.
The Holy Spirit moves powerfully through God’s Word to speak to us.
