I love to gossip! To me it’s kind of like enjoying my favorite foods!
We have a dear friend who makes this incredible pasta dish! Wow! It’s so good and I savor every bite!
I love to gossip and it feels so good. Every word is like that savory bite of food in my mouth. Yum!
Does this seem like a strange analogy or are you tracking with me?
Proverbs 26:22 says: “The words of a gossip are like choice morsels; they go down to the inmost parts.” (NIV)
Gossip is like a savory, buttery bite of pasta!
But what is the result of these tasty morsels going down into our inmost parts?
Well, according to God, gossip kills.
The Bible says gossip kills trust between friends and can even destroy those precious friendships. (Proverbs11:13 and 16:28)
But wait! Isn’t gossip kind of like fast food? It’s not good for you but as long as you don’t eat too much you should be okay?
In Romans 1:29-31 in the New Testament, we see the word gossips being used to describe people who have turned their hearts away from God. Take a look at the description of these people who are also called gossips:
They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents; they have no understanding, no fidelity, no love, no mercy. (NIV)
When I read this it makes me feel three things:
First, I know I am guilty. My words become deadly when I gossip and I am guilty.
Second, I am so grateful for God’s grace and forgiveness in my life. I have done so much damage with my mouth in my lifetime and I am so grateful God has completely forgiven me when I don’t deserve it. That is grace. Thank you God for your mercy on me.
Last, it makes me want to make a change. Today I have asked God once again to help me in this area of my life where I have failed so much.
“Jesus thank you for your forgiveness in my life. Please help me Lord to have the words of my mouth and my heart be healing and life giving and honoring to you. Amen.”

Do your best to get your kids involved with going to Christian camps. Be it retreats or a summer camp, God has chosen to really bless camp time.
Our favorite camp, Camp Lurecrest in Lake Lure NC, has a great saying about summer camp:
“A Week Can Change A Life!”
This is so true. I surrendered my life to God at camp and then spent the majority of my life speaking at camps telling students how Jesus Christ changed my life!
I have seen thousands and thousands of children and teens get serious about their relationship with the Lord at camp. Powerful!
God is still on the move and changing lives at camp today.
Find a Christian camp near you or call your local church to help you get pointed in the right direction. Start your kids on the great adventure!
If you find yourself short financially, most camps have scholarships and they are glad to help out if you need it.
