Tuesday Tiny Tips

  • Faith Tip-God’s Love For You 5/2/17

There is nothing we can do or say to get God to love us more than He already does right now.

God’s love is perfect. He loves you the maximum amount.

There are no good deeds or good works we can do so that He will accept us.

Because of what Jesus did when He lived a perfect life, died in our place and rose from the dead; Christ made the way for us to be accepted through the forgiveness of our sins once and for all.

We don’t do good so that God will love us, we do good because God loves us. There is a big difference.

One is striving to be accepted. The other is knowing God’s love and having peace.

A lot of Christians waste a lot of their lives trying to get God to love them more. A lot of Christians waste a lot of their time trying to get God to like them more.

He already cares about you the maximum amount.

Do good deeds to say, “Thank you” to God for the way He loves you.

Let our lives be filled with good deeds as gifts to our Savior for all He has done for us.

“Thank you Heavenly Father for loving us as much as you love your Son Jesus…The maximum amount!”

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God- not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

  • Faith Tip-Feelings 4/18/17

So many Christians base their relationship with God on how they feel. But there is a problem with that.

Feelings come and go. Feelings are hot and cold.

We feel up and down. So many times we don’t feel God’s love. In fact it feels like God is a million miles away.

But what is the truth? The truth has to count for something. God’s love never changes.  Whether or not we feel it, He is close to us.  He is always close to us.  Even when we doubt God, He never doubts His love for us.

Jesus has never based His love for us on His feelings. Our Lord Jesus did not feel like being hung on a cross, but he went through that for us despite His feelings.

Feelings are great when they are good; however, they are a shaky thing to base our relationship with God on. They turn bad so easily.

What is truth despite our feelings? Jesus lived a life we could not live: perfect. He died a death in our place. He rose from the dead and is alive today and loving us with every breath we breathe.

Thank you, Lord, for your commitment to love us that is not based upon feelings. Help us rest in your love and to be committed to You even when we don’t feel close to you.

Help us to rest in your love, Jesus. Rest and know, not feel, but know we mean everything to you.

Thank you, Lord, for loving us first and forever.

  • Family and Parenting Tip-TV Conversations 4/11/17

One of the things that was great at getting conversations going while our kids were growing up was having a TV show we watched together.

For us, it started with Little House On The Prairie. It was clean and great for discussions about friendships, marriage, people not treating each other well, death, faith, and the list goes on and on.

We didn’t just watch, but took the time to talk about what we were experiencing on the show. We asked the kids questions and sat back and listened to their answers.

As the kids got older, we continued the tradition by having age appropriate shows we watched together. Home Improvement with Tim Allen was another one that we enjoyed.

Go ahead and make some popcorn and get the conversations started.
